TRACK WORK AT RAND WICK
EL KHOBAR AND SOMERSET FAIR PLEASE (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY. August 11 Somerset Fair and El Khobar gave indications of their class when running f smart half-mile in sUsec at Randwicl today. Their time was only a second outside the best of the morning, and both appeared to have a good deal in reserve The pair worked on the course oroper 80 feet from the rails, with G. Hughes on El Khobar and the trainer, J. Bagby on Somerset Fair. El Khobar appeared to gain a slight advantage turning into 1 the straight, but Somerset Fair finished strongly to join his companion at the finish. Prince Cortauld (Sellwood), after steady pace work, was allowed to stride out over three furlongs in 39sec. Prince Cortauld has improved greatly in appearance during the last week, and looked a picture as he walked off after his work today. The smart three-year-old, Aboukir, has done well since his good win at Rosehill, and he galloped nicely alongside Mary Ellen over five furlongs in Imin 64sec. He is likely to have his next' race in the Hobartvllle Stakes.
Ray Ribbon was a late worker on the grass. He was ridden by K. Nuttall. He covered half a mile in 56sec. Like all the other New Zealand horses, he has settled down well in his new surroundings.
