SURPLUS U.S. WOOL
Conference On Disposal (Rec. 10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 10. The Federal Agriculture Department today scheduled conferences for August 25 and August 26 on surplus wool problems and incentive prices: The wool merchandising advisory committee will meet first to discuss methods of disposing of about 130,000,0001 b of surplus wool purchased by the Government under the price sunport programme. Wool producers’ representatives will meet the next day to aid in determining the shorn wool incentive price level for the 1956 marketing year. This year’s level was set at 62 cents per lb. The department has announced plans to dispose of its surplus stocks over a two-year period. It will seek advice at the August 26 meeting on how to achieve an orderly disposition that will have the least possible effect on the wool market.
