ACCIDENTS NEAR

QUEEN Bridge Collapses And Roof Falls In (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 11. Twenty men, women, and children were thrown into the water at Cairnryan, near Stranraer, last night, as they waved goodbye to the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh on the Royal Britannia. They were standing on a 30-foot long wooden bridge across a shallow stream when it collapsed. Some were trapped as it toppled on to them. Soldiers ran to their rescue and noone was drowned. Ambulances took a number of injured to hospital. Earlier yesterday, while the Queen was presenting prizes at the Stranraer agricultural show, a crowd df child-, ren spilled off the collapsing roof of a lunch hut, the “Daily Express” said. The crack of the roof made the Queen falter for a moment. She and the Duke looked around to see nearly 100 screaming children being pulled to safety. A man and some women who went through the roof were injured.
