GARMENT SIZES IN INCHES
SYSTEM APPROVED BY MANUFACTURERS NATIONAL UNIFORMITY SOUGHT The system of size marking of garments, as approved by the Wellington district textile and garment commit’ tee, has been approved by representatives of all other district groups. A remit approving the Wellington system was adopted at the annual conference of the New Zealand Textile and Garment Manufacturers* Federation at Hanmer Springs. The Wellington system, which involves marking sizes in inches as well as in the familiar letter piarkings, has already been adopted by manufacturers elsewhere, including some in Canterbury. The, Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr D. J. Eyre), in his opening speech at the conference, recommended the manufacturers to give -intention to the cf -e marking. All the groups of the federation had discussed this subject, and had “threshed out the details” of its application to each class of garment, said the (Mr A. Woolley), yesterday. Information on the system wc .-2d l?e circulated to wholesalers and retailers.
