PLEA TO END TRUCE
(Rec. 11 p.m.) SEOUL, August 10. South Korea’s army leaders today demanded that the United States regard the Korean armistice as ended and “resume fighting for our unification before we are left alone.” The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Chung II Kwon, said in a statement: “If this is not done, the only proper alternative for the United States is definitely to pledge to stand by us, giving us more material support, and increasing our armed forces sufficiently to accomplish the pledged objective of unifying Korea.”
