CHEAPER TOBACCO IN N.S.W.
(Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, August 10. Australian tobacco and cigarettes will be cheaper in New South Wales from tomorrow. The Prices Minister (Mr A. Landa) said today the reductions would be a halfpenny on packets of 10 to Id on packets of 20 cigarettes and from lid to 2d on 2oz packets of tobacco. The new prices would still allow retailers a margin of nearly fid on large packets of better grade cigarettes and 3Jd on cheaper grades. In the new price schedule, ordinary cigarettes will be 2s 3d a packet of 20 and better brands 2s 9d to 3s_6d L
