INVITATION BY CHINA
VISIT BY JAPANESE PREMIER SOUGHT (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) TOKYO, August 7. Mr Chou En-lai, Premier of Communist China, has sent an invitation to the Japanese Prime Minister (Mr Ichiro Hatoyama) to visit Peking, two Socialist members of the Diet said today on their return from China. They delivered Mr Chou’s oral invitation to Mr Hatoyama at his villa north of Tokyo. They did not say what his reaction was. The Diet members said Mr Chou added that if the visit could be realised, he hoped Japan would send an envoy of ambassadorial rank. Mr Chou said he understood that the sending of an envoy would “meet difficulties from the United States.”
