INTER-CLUB MATCHES AT ASHBURTON Twenty-two members of the Ashburton, Canterbury, and Timaru Chess Clubs played the first inter-club match of the season in Ashburton on Saturday. Those with surnames beginning with the letters from A to K played those with surnames beginning with the letters L to Z. Results were (A., Ashburton; C„ Canterbury; T.. Timaru):— E. J. Denys (C.) halved two games with W. Pearse (T.); G Cleary (T.) had two wins over S. Robertscn (A.); Mrs Kane (T.) lost two games to Miss A. Wellard King (C.): D. Robertson (A.), one win, one loss to E. B. Raymond (T.); O. C. Chandler (C.) drew one and lost one to M. Logan (T.); E. Delahunty (A.) won one and lost one to C. G. Parkins (C.); Mrs Forrest (C.) won one and lost one to R. L. Roundill (T.); F. Best (C.) won one and lost one to W. F. Mulligan (A.); R. Blaxall (C.) won one and lost one to G. Patma (A.); G. R. Copland (A.) won one and lost one to P Smith (T.).
