THANKS TO POLICE

Sir, —I would like to say hats off and congratulations to the two courteous police constables on duty in Lyttelton last night, who so kindly and willingly assisted passengers off the boat train with their luggage. I was just an observer, but was delighted to see the help so spontaneously given to tired travellers. Is this the beginning of a new era in the Police Force? Let us hope so.—Yours, etc., SUSIE OF SUMNER. June 1, 1955.
