ORCHESTRAL CONCERT

Sir, —The facetious reference by your music critic to a fire extinguisher, when reporting the orchestral concert on Saturday, was in poor taste. Reference to the unrehearsed incident of the wire-haired terrier would have been more in keeping. The criticism itself was fair enough, but your critic falls far short of the mark in assisting to stimulate public interest in what he aptly described as “most praiseworthy enthusiasm.” Such enthusiasm would undoubtedly produce different results altogether if displayed before a public of say three times the number present on Saturday evening; and this is where the critic should help, not hinder.— Yours, etc., FAJR’S FAIR. April 19, 1955.
