GLENELG HEALTH CAMP
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS Preliminary arrangements for some major works to be carried out at Glenelg children’s health camp were completed at a meeting of the camp management committee last evening. The chairman (Mr George Burns) presided. The building of a new laundry, gardener’s cottage and a playroom 35 feet by 20 feet has been authorised by the advisory board of the New Zealand Federation of Health Camps and the work will be preceded with at an early date. Mrs G. Friedlander (convener) and members of the house committee were thanked for their report on necessary replacements of camp equipment. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to the Christchurch Fire Board for the excellent service it provided when fires broke out on property some distance from Glepelg. The grounds committee, through its convener (Dr. L. H. Cordery) reported on steps being taken at Glenelg to eradicate oxalis and listed some minor requirements for the grounds and the swimming bath. Mr J. N. Minson, for the school committee, reported that Miss D. Munday, head mistress of the school at Glenelg, was retiring at the end of the present school term and arrangements were made to entertain her at a farewell party on May 4. Miss Munday and the matron (Mrs E. Morrison) gave good reports of the conduct and health of the 42 girls at present in camp. Gifts were gratefully acknowledged from Mrs Spiers, Mrs Williams and the Catholic Women’s League.
