BRITISH TEAM’S VISIT IN 1959
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 18. A British Isles team would tour New Zealand in 1959, said the International Board in advice received tonight by the executive committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union. The union also received an invitation from Australia for an All Black team to tour early in 1957. The secretary (Mr G. H. Geddes) said that this would mean the following tour rota:—l9ss, Australia to New Zealand; 1956, South Africa to New Zealand; 1957, Fiji to New Zealand, New Zealand to Australia; 1957-58, Australia to British Isles; 1958, Australia to New Zealand; 1959, British Isles to New Zealand. The International Board advised that after a report by the tours committee the tours would be arranged for 20 years from 1959.
Mr J. H. Parker said he thought it logical that New Zealand should go to South Africa in 1960.
The invitation from Australia for an All Black team to tour early in 1957 was referred to the council of the New Zealand Rugby Union. The venue of the match between the touring Australian side this year against a combined Nelson-Motueka-Marlborough side was fixed at Motueka.
