CAR REPORTED MISSING
YOUTH APPREHENDED BY TRAFFIC OFFICER
An observant traffic officer yesterday afternoon apprehended a youth whom he found driving a motor-car which had been reported missing only a quarter of an hour earlier. The youth will appear in the Children’s Court to face a series of charges involving. the unlawful conversion of more than a dozen vehicles, including cars and power cycles.
Traffic Officer C. Acton, of the Christchurch City Council’s traffic department, was in a patrol car near the Christchurch Public Hospital at 4 pjn. when he was approached by Mr E. C. Wood, of 71 Sinclair street. Mr Wood told him that his late model English saloon which he had left parked nearby had been removed. Traffic Officer Acton took Mr Wood to the police station to make a report, made a note of the missing car’s registration number, and carried on with his patroL
At 4.15 p.m. he saw the missing car in Ferry road, stopped it, and took the driver to the Central Police Station.
