HOUSE BROKEN INTO

INTRUDER EATS MEAL

An intruder entered an unoccupied house at 37 Mays, road, during the

week-end, made himself a meal, sampled sc- o liquor, and left without taking anything.

The house, which is the residence of Dr. A. C. McKillop, was broken into some time between Saturday evening and yesterday morning. Jemmy marks were found on the sill of a ground floor window, but entry was made through an upstairs window.

When Dr. McKillop returned home after a month’s holiday yesterday he found that cupboards and drawers in the house had been ransacked. There was a lot of mess but no damage, and as far as he could ascertain the intruder had removed nothing from the premises.

A pensioner who lives in a bach on the property had bought grocery supplies on Friday. They included lamb chops and butter, which had been put in the kitchen safe. Dr. McKillop and detectives of the Criminal Investigation Branch, which is handling I s e case, found evidence of a substantial meal having been eaten before the intruder departed.
