RACING TRAINER DISQUALIFIED
DECISION BY WAIKATO COMMITTEE POSITIVE TEST OF SWAB (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 22. The trainer, F. J. Cobb, of Takanini, was disqualified for 12 months by the Waikato District Committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference tonight, after a long inquiry, the result of a positive test of a swab taken from Trismar, winner of the Flying Handicap at Te Awamutu on December 11. The committee found Cobb guilty of having failed to prevent the administration of the drug strychnine to Trismar. The horse was disqualified for the race.
The hearing was also begun of a charge against R. H. Martin, trainer of Cutlass, which fell dead during the running of the Matangi Hack Hurdles at Te Rapa on December 27. The inquiry, which was a result of a postmortem examination, was adjourned until Monday to enable the hearing of further evidence.
