WOMEN’S TITLES AT TIMARU CANTERBURY UNBEATEN IN FOUR GAMES (New Zealand Press Association) - v.t 11 TIMARU, February 22. Beating Waikato and West Coast, Canterbury took the lead in the New Zealand mterprovincial women’s softball tournament here today. Cant2.Lu.ry, with four wins, are still unbeaten, and Wellington ar e a close second with, three wins. The matches today were played in fine weather and on hard grounds. The highlight of play was the match between Canterbury and Waikato, which Canterbury won 2-0. Other results were:—Wellington beat Hutt Valley, 6-5; Southland beat South Canterbury, 8-7; Manawatu beat West Coast, 19-0; Waikato beat Otago, 7-2; Wellington beat Southland, 19-2; Canterbury beat West Coast, 19-1; Manawatu beat South Canterbury, 8-3.
Hutt Valley, Waikato, and Manawatu have now won two matches each and South Canterbury, Otago, and Southland one each.
