OFFICIAL TIMES FOR RECORD ATTEMPT
An average speed of 170.9 miles an hour was achieved by R. H. Wright, of Invercargill, in his attempt on the world motor-cycling solo speed record of 180 miles an hour for the flying kilometre at Swannanoa on Saturday. The official figures for Wright’s two runs in the attempt were given yesterday by the timekeeper for the Pioneer Motor Club (Mr C. Oliver).
Wright’s fastest-run was 12.825ec for the distance—a speed of 174.49 miles an hour. His second run took 13.3595ec —a speed of 167.45 miles an ho*ir. The times were taken m electronic equipment prepared Ly the Canterbury University College Industrial Development Department.
