CANADIAN TRADE MINISTER

VISIT TO AUSTRALIA AND N.Z. PLANNED

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) OTTAWA, February 2. Mr C. D. Howe, Canada’s Minister for Trade, was planning a three-week tour of Australia and New Zealand in April, the Canadian Press reported today. Details of the tour were likely to be discussed with Australia’s Prime Minister (Mr R. G. Menzies) when he visited Canada from March 9 to March 14, the agency said. The report said that although Mr Howe would discuss trade problems during his tour there were no indications that he would carry out any trade negotiations.
