Serious Floods In Britain
(Rec. 10.30 pm.) LONDON, Nov. 6. Heavy and continuous rain caused ■erious flooding today in North Wales ■nd Lancashire. Saturday sports fixtures had to be abandoned, and rail ■nd road traffic was delayed. About 50 workers on the all-night ■hift at a big rayon factory at Flint Were driven from swamped workshops to the refuge of their canteen, where they sat on the tables with their feet dangling over the watet. Male escorts carried their partners to dry ground through knee-deep floods when a dance ended early today near Shrewsbury. A race meeting at Liverpool and several big football games were called off.
People were temporarily stranded in their homes in flooded low-lying streets in various towns. Vast tracts of farm lands were flooded.
