D. D. WILSON TO RETURN

CHRISTCHURCH JOB ACCEPTED

The All Black five-eighths, D. D. Wilson, who has been working in Timaru for about three months, has resigned from the insurance firm with which he has been working and has accepted a position in Christchurch. At the start of the present season. Wilson, who Was a member of the New Zealand team in Britain in 195354, returned to his home in, Christchurch from Timaru each *week-end and played his football with the High School Old Boys’ club. About two weeks ago it was reported that Wilson would be in Timaru full-time, and would play football for the Old Boys club in Timaru. It seems that Wilson will have to be back in Christchurch for a fortnight before he is eligible to play in club matches. His resignation from his present firm is to take effect from the end of July, but it is possible that he will leave Timaru before then. It appears likely that Wilson will be eligible for selection for the Canterbury team for its first Ranfurly Shield match, against Southland, on August 14.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR SHIELD GAME SEAT ALLOCATIONS AND PRICES “When the new stand has been completed, we will be able to offer better facilities than any other centre,” said Mr H. C' Blazey, referring to accommodation at Lancaster Park for Ranfurly Shield matches, at a meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Union’s management committee last evening. The stand was progressing well, he said, and would be ready in plenty of time for the first shield match. The. committee decided to allocate 700 seats for supporters of the challenging team—2oo in the closed stands and 500 in the open. These figures were laid down to be a standard for future shield matches. Gate charges for the match were fixed at 5s for the closed stand, 4s 6d for the open stand, 3s 6d for the enclosure, and 2s 6d for the embankment. The “big five” referees were nominated for representative games. They were Messrs S. Whiteford. W. Fright, .S. A. Thorborn, R. Empson, and L. Kirk.
