LANCASTER PARK SHOWERS

RUGBY FOOTBALL

INSUFFICIENT HOT WATER COMPLAINT TO UNION A complaint at the lack of adequate hot showers at Lancaster Park was received in a letter from the Linwood Rugby Football Club by the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening. Having played in very wet conditions on Saturday, July 10,members of the senior team found only cold showers available, the letter stated. Dr. G. W. Harrison, a member of the committee, said that the same complaint had been made by the Marist Club last Saturday, when only two members of tne team got hot showers. The fault was not that of the Rugby Union, said the president (Mr W. C. Dailey), but a result of the extraordinary muddy conditions on the last two Saturdays, when it required an unusual amount of water to wash the' mud off the players. Mr C. H. McPhail said that he had been down to the boHer-room while the showers were being used,- and though the boilers were going well the temperature of the water was too cold for the Mr Dailey pointed out that the supply of hot water could not be expected to last for ever. The conditions last Saturday were more muddy than he remembered seeing them, he said. He recalled that the same complaint had arisen once or twice some seasons ago. The committee decided to confer with the Victory Park Board ol Control with a view to getting extra water-heating facilities, and to advise the clubs accordMembers stood in silence in an expression of sympathy for the relatives of two former representative players wb°_“ave died recently. They were Mr K. Robilliard who played as three-quarters for Canterbury in eight games in 1896 ana 1898. and Mr A. Henry, who represented Canterbury in 12 games between 1907 and 1914.

CANTERBURY TEAM POSSIBLES TO PLAY PROBABLES To let the selectors complete the Canterbury Rugby side, a special Possibles v. Probables game will be played at Rugby Park on Wednesday, July 28.
