(Rec. 10 p.m.) MOSCOW, July 17. Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew, chairman of the AU India Peace Council, said at Moscow today that Mr Georgi Malenkov, the Russian Prime Minister, would welcome an understanding with India similar to the “peaceful coexistence’’ agreement reached in the talks between Mr Nehru and Mr Chou En-lai, the Communist Chinese Prime Minister, in New Delhi last month. Dr. Kitchlew made this, statement after a two and a half hours talk with Mr Malenkov at his country home near Moscow. Dr. Kitchlew said the Soviet Prime Minister appeared “sincerely interested’’ in .the idea of a meeting of himself, Mr Nehru, and Mr Mao Tsetung, head of the Chinese People’s Republic. The suggestion for such a meeting came from Dr. Kitchlew, who quoted Mr Malenkov as saying it would be given further consideration.

South Korean Army Command (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) SEOUL, July 17. General Maxwell Taylor, the United States Bth Army commander, announced today that a South Korean training command would be formed next month. The new command is the second step in a plan to decentralise operation of the South Korean Army’s staff by organising three separate major commands. The first step, in March, was the setting up of the first Republic of Korea Field Army. The third step will be a rear, army command to take over many supply stations now administered by the R.O.K. Army.
