Chalmers was re-elected president of the New Zealand Racing Conference at the annual meeting of the conference today. Mr W. Claud Motion was re-elected vice-president. District executive representatives elected were:—Auckland. Dr. A. McGregor Grant; Canterbury, Mr G. H. Grigg; Dunedin, Mr L. C. Hazlett; Greymouth, Mr J. W. Hannan; Hawke’s Bay, Mr H. H. Smith; Auckland, Mr W. Grieve; Taranaki, Mr G. Fraser: Waikato, Mr P. G. Vercoe; Wanganui, Mr R. I. Sewell; Wellington, Mr F. V. Lysons. Totalisator Levy The New Zealand Racing Conference, at its annual meeting in Wellington yesterday, decided to increase by £3OOO the total levy on on-course totalisator investments for the coming year, to meet the conference’s running expenses. It was agreed that the levy should total “not more than £35,000.”—(P.A.) Testing Horses for Doping.—Sets of apparatus for taking saliva and urine specimens from horses were sent recently to each permanent racecourse inspector and stipendiary steward in New Zealand. Clubs have been fully advised as to the requirements necessary for testing horses for doping. Delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Racing Conference in Wellington yesterday were informed of this by the president, Mr H. R. Chalmers, in his annual address.— (F.0.0.R.)
