OVERSEAS EXCHANGES SYDNEY Steady gains by nearly all sections of the Sydney sharemarket yesterday gave the appearance of one of the most widespread general advances since the boom year, 1951. Turnover and range of sales were certainly the best since that period. MELBOURNE The investment market maintained a firm undertone at Melbourne yesterday, with rises well in excess of falls. Some profit-taking was noticeable in certain leading stocks, but the demand was . again strong. Selected oil shares were active at higher prices, but Uraniums displayed a variable trend.
