STEEPLECHASE. TO WARSONG

Three jockeys were injured when Indian Ragi fell at the first fence in the Napier Steeplechase at toe Napier Park Racing Club'e meeting yesterday, and a fourth, J. Walker, was sent to hospital with slight concussion when his mount. Sovereign, fell and broke its neck. / Indian Ragi brought down Hustle (V. Coley), Ruddock (R. Dixon), and Golden Kingdom (S. Waddell). Waddell broke a collarbone; Garth was bruised and die not ride again during the day; and Dixon was cut over the right eye. At the start of the third division of the Novice Stakes, C. McG.ovan, rider of Park Avenue, was kicked when he was thrown at the starting post, and was unable to ride. ’ He was medically examined, and was not permitted to fulfil his other engagements during the day. Park Avenue took no part in the race. The three divisions caused a shortage of jockeys in the novice event, and a delay was caused while jockeys changed for mounts. As a result, the rest of the programme was affected. The successful double. Reigning King Gay Minstrel, paid £123 6s 6d for £l. On-course totalisator investments were £40,471, compared With £46,136 on toe first day last year.
