MAGNETIC SURVEY’S REPORT Apart from one week of rain, May was a month of calm sunny days, with the mean temperature 1.8 degrees higher than average, and the total amount of sunshine 17.6 hours more than average, says a report issued by the Magnetic Survey on meteorological observations taken in May. Eleven frosts were recorded compared with the average of 15 and the grass minimum temperature was 2.3 degrees higher than average. For the fifth successive month rainfall was lower than average, 1.72 inches having been recorded, compared with the average 2.84 inches. The rainfall total of 6.17 inches to May 31 is 4.62 inches lower than the average for the first five month of the year. Humidity readings at 9 a.m. were 8 per cent, higher than average.
