ARAB-ISRAEL BORDER
No U.N. Talks On Dispute (Rec. 8 p.m.) NEW YORK, Mar. 25. The United Nations Secretary-Gen-eral (Mr Dag Hammarskjold) told Jordan today that in view of its rejection of the proposal for a conference with Israel on armistice he considered that for the present his pursuance of this matter any further was not warranted. The Jordan Foreign Minister (Mr Hussein Khalidi) informed Mr Hammarskjold yesterday that his Government found nothing to justify taking the dispute out of the hands of the Mixed Armistice Commission. He said that his country would not enter into any peace talks with Israel until all the United Nations resolutions on Palestine had been enforced. Referring to the Qibya village incident of October 14, in which more than 60 Jordanians were killed by Israeli attackers, he asked: “How can we talk peace with a State whose soldiers are still dripping with the blood of the Qibya martyrs” In its November resolution Censuring the Israel attack on Qibya, the United Nations asked the Truce Supervisory Organisation to report on its recommendations to enforce the border armistice conditions.
