EXCLUSION OF SOME ENTRANTS AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION PROTESTS (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 15. Officers of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association were advised tonight that 16 Auckland players had been excluded from the national junior tournament, which will be held in Wellington late next month. . .. , A meeting of the association s executive committee decided to protest strongly to the management committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, which decided on the exclusions on Monday evening. . ... Mr K. J. M. Hayr, president of the Auckland association, said the association had made bulk railway bookings for the tournament, and had obtained concessions because of the number travelling. AH the money for the trip had been collected, and quite a number of parents of competitors planned to travel to Wellington. Mr Hayr said the decision had been made presumably to limit the large entries for the tournament. “At the annual meeting of the New Zealand association this year,” he said, “an attempt was made to limit the entries, but Auckland opposed it. We did concede, however, that if the host association had difficulty in catering for large entries, there should be some restrictions on private billeting, but limiting entries for any junior tournament is a retrograde step.”

Henderson, C. Taylor, A. Swanson, M. Wilson, T. Macartney, A. Bringans, L. Faulkner, and H. Walker. Women.—Miss H. Henderson, Mrs N. Gilmour. Mrs Y. Hart, Mrs Z. Wilson, Miss B. Jenkins, Mrs E. Gardner. Mrs M. Henderson. and Mrs M. Macartney. W. Hewitt and Miss J. Forbes were not available. ■ Matches as set down for December 19 will be played. —Advt.
