WELFARE STATE FOR INDIA
NATIONALISING OF INDUSTRY (Rec. 7 p.m.) CALCUTTA, Dec. 14. The nationalisation of all key industries in India is inevitable, the Prime Minister (Mr Nehru) told the Associated Chambers of Commerce today. He urged industrialists to tackle labour disputes by a human approach. Mr Nehru said the Government aimed at converting India into a welfare state, because conditions were ideally suited to it, but the process could not be hurried and success largely depended on the maintenance oi world peace. The Prime Minister said the Indian Government allowed “private sectors” to operate within India’s economic framework, but these sectors must be prepared to co-ordinate themselves with the Government.
