WOOL VALUES IN AUSTRALIA
(Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dec 15. Medium to broad quality Merino prices were 2J to 5 per cent, higher compared with Sydney closing rates at the Newcastle wool sale today. There was a keen demand for fine to superfine wools. Competition was very strong, with the Continent and Eastern Europe the chief buyers. The offering of 9375 bales was fully cleared „Tqp prices were 200 d for super Merino 74/80’s, llOd for super crossbred 58/60’s, 94d for good to average crossbred 60’s, 57d for average crossbred 50 s.
At Melbourne, competition was strong from Eastern Europe, the United Kingdom. America and local mills Values again moved against the buyer particularly for Merino and fine cross- / was a clearance of the 12,500 bales offered. Top prices were: Merino 70’s 140Jd, 60/64’s 136 d. Crossbred 58’s 112 d, 56’s 98d.
