PROPOSED CHANGE TO BUSES
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY. Nov. 9. The New South Wales Minister of Transport (Mr E. Wetherell) announced tonight that trams in Sydney would be replaced with diesel buses. The State Government would not buy any more trams, but the change-over would be made gradually, and would take many years. The Transport Department was drawing up long-range plans for converting the tram routes to bus operation, Mr Wetherell said.
Married for Sixth Time.— Mrs Isobel Shaw, aged 82, who has outlived five
husbands, was married in Bradford, Yorkshire, today for the sixth time The bridegroom, a former butler, Mr Robert Thomas McKee, who is 75. has been married once before. The bride’s last husband died in June. When she met McKee last month she broke off her engagement to a nightwatchman. —Londbn, November 7.
