SYDNEY WOOL SALE

(Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 17. On the closing day of the Sydney wool sales the market showed a hardening tendency for finer type Merinos; but other Merino descriptions were firm. Comebacks and crossbreds met strong demand and prices were firm at late rates. Competition was very keen from Britain, the Continent, and Japan. Of the 12,674 bales offered, 12,600 were sold. Top price was 130|d for good 64/70’s burry Merino. Good average 60’s crossbred medium burr realised 96fd. At Melbourne Comebacks and crossbreds met a firm market at the close of the Melbourne wool sales today, and values were equal to the best of the week. Merinos met good competition but a slightly lower trend was shown as the sales closed. The Continent led the bidding with sood support from Britain and limited apanese support. The offering of 13,500 bales was fully cleared. Top prices were: best Merino 64-80’s, 122 d; good crossbred 60-64’s, HOd.
