BREVET CLUB RAFFLE RAISES £5OO A Dunedin resident will now be able to enjoy £2OO worth of holiday travel by air, or put £2OO in the bank. An air travel voncher, or its cash value, was the prize in a holiday raffle .to raise funds for the international air race from England to Christchurch. The raffle was drawn under police supervision yesterday, and was won A. Valentine, P.O. Box 302, DuneAbout £5OO was raised by the raffle, which was conducted by the Brevet Club of Christchurch. More than 16,000 tickets were sold, and the Timaru branch of the Brevet Club, which has only 40 members, raised £BO. The vice-president of the Christchurch club (Mr W. E. F. Adams) said last evening that the club, which had 230 members, was restricted to former members of the Air Force who had served as aircrew in war-time. One of its objects was to foster interest in aeronautics. Memebers were still keen on flying, and felt the best way to foster interest in aeronautics was to support the air race. The president of the Air Race Council (Mr H. D. Christie) thanked the club and said the council appreciated every effort to help the race, and one by a relatively small organisation should set an example that others could well follow. The public could not do better than study what the race had already achieved for Christchurch and Canterbury.
