TRAMWAY TRACK REPAIRS
Sir, — C. H. Clemens writes of the “steam roller, heavy motor truck, tractor, electric plant, etc., which lay idle all day.’’ He wishes to know why. I will tell him. Man becomes weary of hard manual labour day alter dav. The monotony of it! His muscles and nerves, etc., demand more rest if their arduous work is to be carried out day after day. Dimly he feels that’ there is some injustice in-this, and not seeing where the remedy lies, he strikes. He needs more time and opportunity to cultivate his inborn talent. Eve Curie, in her mother’s bibgraphy, tells how the latter mourned over this lack of opportunity. Let any man who complains about strikes, and idleness, etc, go and give his quota of muscular energy to the essential industries —Yours, etc.. M. G. DAVIES. Kowai Bush, March 8, 1953.
