TIMARU A. AND P. ASSOCIATION
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE URGED (From Our Own Reporter) \ TIMARU. March 10. Of the 638 members on the roll of the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association there are 493 annual members, 125 life members, and 20 junior members, according to the report of the president, Mr W. Divan, which will be presented to the annual general meeting on Friday week. Membership shows an increase of 37. The committee feels this total could quite easily be built .to the point where membership stood at 1000, and urges members to assist in this respect. The annual balance-sheet shows a loss on the year’s workings, which is attributed to unfavourable weather on Show Day. The association’s buildings and grounds are in good repair, and a considerable amount has been spent on improvements and maintenance. The financial return from fees paid by campers at the show grounds was excellent, and the association intends to provide additional facilities for visitors during the year. The committee has also arranged for the erection of a building for a permanent selling ring at ram fairs, and it is hoped this will also be erected later in the year.
