ELECTRICITY CHARGES To meet the increased charges for bulk electricity, the Lyttelton Borough Council announces increased charges as from May 1. The present maximum demand rate for lighting and heating is abolished, and tnere will be a flat charge of l&d a unit for both heatitng and lighting. The effect of this will be that small consumers without cookers will probably benefit, while those with cookers will pay more. Water heating charges are increased from 0.4 d to id a unit. The rate for commercial lighting will remain the same, 4d a unit, but the heating rate is increased from Id to lijd. Charges for industrial power remain the same, but the minimum charge a horse-power is increased from 2d to' 2s 6d a month. The fee for disconnexion and reconnexion has been fixed at 55.,
