ANNUAL MATCH AGAINST WAITAKI

Christchurch Boys’ High School beat Waitaki Boys’ High School by an innings and 41 runs in the annual cricket match which concluded yesterday. Waitaki made 168 in the first innings and at stumps on Monday Christchurch had lost two wickets for 141 runs. B. Bolton was not out 81 and D. V. Spicer not out 2. Bolton yesterday went on to make 203 runs. He took 4 hours 23 minutes and his score included 18 fours and one six. His footwork was very efficient. The left-hand spin bowler, G. K. Austin. bowled continuously for Waitaki, and his overs totalled 56. Christchurch declared with nine wickets down for 392. After the luncheon adjournment Waitaki opened its second innings with a batting partnership between Wright and Austin. Both players attacked the Christchurch bowling vigorously, and when Wright was out lbw to J. F. Kent for 20, the partnership had made 56 runs. After the fall of the first wicket the Christchurch spin bowlers. Bolton, E. Barnes, and F. Rapley, soon showed to advantage and Waitaki was all out for 183 seven minutes before time.
