Two New Divisions For Front
(Rec. 11 p.m.) SEOUL. November 11. The South Koreans have two new divisions and six more infantry regrments which will be ready for action soon.
Announcing this today, General van Fleet, the Bth Army Commander, Said the new divisions would enable the South Koreans to take over additional portions of the front. General van Fleet said he did not know whether the South Korean increase would mean the withdrawal of Some American troops. The new formations bring the number of South Korean divisions to 12, With nine in the front line. General van Fleet said the United Nations offensive in the Triangle Hill and Sniper Ridge area on October 14 had diverted Chinese plans for attacks elsewhere. The battle had reduced two Chinese armies to 60 per cent, effectiveness. Some of their regiments had been completely destroyed. United Nations gunners broke up groups of Chinese Communists forming north of the Han and Imj in rivers estuary on the extreme eastern Korean front today. An Bth Army officer said artillery caused at least 60 Communist casualties.
