ATTEMPTED THEFT ADMITTED

FORGED TOTALISATOR TICKET (New Zealand Press Association) ROTORUA. October 8. Ena Moke, married, a Forest Service employee, aged 33, who admitted altering the numbers on a totalisator ticket and presenting it..for payment, was this morning remanded on bail by Justices of the Peace to the Supreme Court for sentence on a charge of attempting to steal £lOB 8s from the Totalisator Agency Board at Rotorua on September 29. The police said that on September 27 the accused took a £1 doubles ticket tor the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting. He backed No. 7 for the first leg (Scimitar) and No. 10 for the second (Rewa Scott). No. 7 did not win but No. 10 did. With a blue pencil he altered 7 to 3 and then presented the ticket for payment. An assistant of the board noticed that something was amiss and an examination of the ticket showed that there had been an alteration. Had Moke’s attempt succeeded he would have received £lOB 8s
