FINANCES OF EGYPT
Licensing Of All Imports (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) CAIRO, October 7. An extension of the licence system to cover all imports into Egypt was announced by the Finance Minister tDr. el Emery). He said that the action was necessary because Egypt’s sterling holdings' were exhausted. Countries interested in selling more goods would have to buy more Egyptian cotton to redress the trade balance. Licences would be given promptly for imports for which Egypt could readily pay.
