LABOUR FEDERATION CRITICISED
RESOLUTION BY OTAGO TRADES COUNCIL (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 7. Dissatisfaction with the attitude of the executive of the New Zealand Federation of Labour towards the workers engaged on the Roxburgh hydro-electric project was expressed tonight at a special general meeting of the Otago Trades Council. The meeting passed a resolution saying that the council “strongly disapproves of the attitude of the executive of the federation in making recommendations favourable to and apparently at the request of the New Zealand Workers’ Union, without any consultations with other unions affected. “We advise the federation that the unions concerned will insist upon their legal rights, and that the Otago Trades Council will assist these unions to attain their objective,” the resolution said.
