EXAMINATIONS IN ORAL FRENCH

RESULTS ANNOUNCED BY CERCLE FRANCAIS

The silver cup awarded by the Ceycle Francais in Christchurch to the school gaining the highest number of points in oral French examinations conducted by the cercle has been won this year by the Christchurch Girls’ High School. Successful candidates in the Cercle’s examinations were as follows: Senior Division (under 18). —Mary Radcliffe (St. Margaret’s College) 1 and gold medal, Miriam Frank (Christchurch Girls’ High School) 2, Graham Halligan (St. Andrew’s College) 3. Merit certificates: Margaret Robertson (Avonside Girls’ High School), Gillian Diehl (Avonside Girls’ High School), Marianne Weststrate (Rangi-ruru), Claire Stevens (Christchurch Girls’ High School), lan Harris (Christchurch Boys’ High School), Joan Jackson (Christchurch West High School), W. F. Gilroy (Christ’s College), Shirley Nish (Ashburton High School), Vivienne Benzie (St. Margaret’s), Anne Scott (Rangi-ruru), Brian Falloon (Boys’ High School). Junior Division (14 and under 16). — Sybil Mence (Christchurch Girls’ High School) 1 and bronze medal, Jennifer Alexander (Christchurch Girls’ High School) 2, Murray Alford (Boys’ High School) 3.
