MORE ARRESTS MADE
CHARGES BEFORE SPECIAL COURT
CAIRO, September 8. More Egyptian politicakleaders were arrested overnight in General Naguib’s drastic “clean sweep" of the Egyptian Political scene. They included a former Cabinet Minister, Mr Abdel Naguib Ibrahim Salah, and a prominent Wafdist. Mr Hafez Shiha. Those arrested are likely to face a special Court oil charges of amassing illegal fortunes, and of abuse of power under the fortner King Farouk. Some may be tried for resisting the Naguib regime since the army coup d’etat on JU, fee 23 princes, politicians, and officers arrested in the last 24 hours—the number is not yet known—Spent the night in a military secondary school on the outskirts of Cairo. An army spokesman claimed: “They slept in beds better than General Naguib's, and are being Well taken care of.” Several Egyptians due to be arrested are on holiday abroad. Egyptian newspaper reports state that- an order has been issued for the arrest of Dr. Zaky Abdel Mutall. a former Finance Ministers who is believed to be ih Turkey.
