COMPETITION WINNERS
THREE TROPHIES TO MARIST CLUB
The winners of the competitions conducted by the Canterbury Rugby Union this season were announced at a meeting of the management committee last evening. Marist again won the Evans Shield (highest aggregate number of points in the competitions under second grade, excluding schoolboys’ football), and the Redpath Shield (highest number of points in all grades), and the Harewood Trophy (senior championship). As well the club fielded two teams which won their grades and three that were runners-up. The Linwood Club's teams won two grades and were runners-up in four others. The Sunnyside-Spreydon Club's teams won two grades and were runners-up in one other. The Belfast Club also won two grades, as did Albion. The winners and runners-up of the various competitions were as follows: Evans Shield.—Marist 110 points, High School Old Boys 97. Redpath Shield.—Marist HQ, SunnysideSpreydon 86. Senior (first division).—Marist 121, High School Old Boys and University 11}. B Section (D.C.L. Shield): Linwood 10. Christchurch 9. Second Division: Belfast 13, Teachers’ College 9. Second Grade.—Papanui Technical Old Boys IS}, Marist 14}. Third Grade.—Result under protest. Fourth Grade.—Technical Old Boys 12, High School Old Boys 9J. Fifth Grade.—Albion IS. Linwood 91. Secondary Schools.—Christchurch West High School 14, Boys* High School A 11. Under 18 A.—Technical Old Boys 11 (winners), Merlvale 11. Under 17.—Marist 121, Linwood 111. Under 16.—Belfast 10, Sunnyside-Sprey-du’l 8. Under Bst 101b.—Linwood and New Brighton, joint winners, 11}. Under 7st 71b.—Under review.
