RANGIORA TROTTING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING HELD ’’l am happy to report that the second year of operation of the Rangiora Trotting Club has seen steady progress,” said the president (Mr C. M. Archer) at the annual meeting of the club last night. The totalisator turnover from the two meetings held in December and April was satisfactory, that from the latter meeting, £51,354 10s, being a record for the course, said Mr Archer. Thanks were due to the North Canterbury Racing Club for the help it had given during the year, and to the Cheviot Trotting Club for the way in which it had worked with the Rangiora club.
The Rangiora club now had an accumulated balance of £2OBl, Mr Archer said. The election of officers resulted as folio ws:—Patrons, Sir John McKenzie and Mr A. Matson; president, Mr Archer; vicepresidents, Messrs N. K. Aitken, A. J. Deyell, A. C. Fraser, and N. G. Mason; treasurer, Mr J. McClung; committee, Messrs C. Bennett, J. W. Brosnan, J. A. Evans, P. D. Gaffaney, G. H. Loffhagen, W. J. McMillan, G. I. Morris, J. T. Power, E. D. Rowe, A. C. Stokes, S. J. Lugg, and K. N. Mackay; auditors, Messrs Tolmie and Smith.
A moton was carried expressing approval of the agreement drawn up between the club and the North Canterbury Racing Club for a half-share in the Rangiora racecourse. Approval of the agreement was previously given by the racing club. The profit and loss account for the two trotting meetings held in conjunction with the Cheviot club showed that each club’s share of the profit was £1357 13s 6d. The Rangiora club’s profit and loss account for the year ended July 31, 1951, showed a net profit to capital account of £770 2s 9d.
