MAN FOUND DEAD IN CREEK
MISSING SINCE FRIDAY NIGHT (From Our Own Reporter)
GREYMOUTH, September 2. John Brady, aged 78. a retired coalminer and inmate of the Tasman Home, who was reported missing on Friday evening, was found dead in Sawyers Creek this morning. He was last seen about 9 o’clock on Friday evening. It is thought that he fell over a- bank into the creek while on his way home. When found he was lying face downwards in three feet of water. An inquest will be held.
MOTOR-CYCLISTS INJURED
Severe lacerations to the right foot, necessitating its amputation, and shock were suffered by James Whyte, a male nurse employed at Templeton Farm School, when his motor-cycle collided w'ith a motor-car at the corner of Idris and Wairakei roads at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The car was driven by John Norman Kitson, 15 Meadow street, Kaiapoi. While riding a motor-cycle Edward Kendrich, of 58 Emmetts road, was involved in a collision with a motorcar at the corner of Rutherford street and Ferry road on Saturday. Mr Kendrich suffered head injuries and was admitted to hospital. His condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
TWO CARS COLLIDE
Both drivers were injured and admitted to hospital when two cars collided at the corner of Innes road and Cranford street. They were Mr R. W. Bowman, of 310 Lincoln road, and Mr Brian Rickerby, of 473 Barrington street. Their condition last evening was satisfactory.
