.134 PLAYERS ENTER TOURNAMENT BEGINS ON SEPTEMBER 26 (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 31. The New Zealand Golf Associations championships, which will be decided on toe Titirangi Golf Clubs «>urse, Auc k land, from September 26 to October J, will be contested by 134 players. Entries closed last evening, and com prised 25 proiessionals and 109 amateurs. Peter Thomson, the young Melbourne professional, who has just returned from a tour of Britain and the United States, will defend the New Zealand °P*" pionship, which he won at Christchurch last year. After the open championship. Thomson will return by air to Australia to compete in the Australian open chamPl oTthe 109 amateurs, B. M. Silk (Wanganui), the North Island amateur champion is toe only player on a handicap of plus 3.
