TRAMWAY TOURNEY WELLINGTON WINS KOHN SHIELD (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 30. Finishing with a flurry of scoring, Wellington won the tramway Rugby competition trophy, the Kohn Shield, when it beat Christchurch by 15 points to 6 in the final match at the Basin Reserve todt The game for the first half and even for part of the second was dull. At halftime the score was 3-all. From about a third of the way through the second spell, when the score was 6-all, Wellington had the edge, and only stout defence kept the score down. The scorers for Wellington were A. E. Bradley (field goal), R. Raxworthy (two tries), L. Jamieson (try), and D. Rowell (penalty,.goal). The captain of the Christchurch side (B. Hodges) kicked two penalty goals. Dunedin beat Auckland 14-6 in the match for the Appreciation Cup.
ALTERATIONS TO DRAW The following alterations have been made to the Canterbury Rugby Football Union’s draw:— Fourth Grade.—Competition now closed. Under 18 A.—Christchurch beat Kaiapoi by default. Under 17.—New Brighton v. Belfast, postponed until next week. Under 7st 71b.—Kaiapol beat H. 5.0.8. by default. —Advt.
