ASSISTANCE TO JUGOSLAVS
SHARE OF BRITAIN, U.S., AND FRANCE
(Rec. 7.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON. August 28. The United States, Britain and France have agreed to provide 50,000,000 dollars in economic aid to Jugoslavia.
The Economic Co-operation Administration in announcing this to-day disclosed that it had already allocated 29,800,000 dollars as an initial instalment to help the Jugoslavs buy cotton, coke and steel. The E.C.A. said that Britain shortly would announce its decision to make available 11.500,000 dollars to heln bolster Jugoslavia’s economy. The French Government is also expected to announce its contribution in the near futurb. The initial French instalment will be about 5,000 000 or 6.000.000 dollars. The United States has given or lent Jugoslavia a total of 150,000,000 dollars for military and economic supplies since Marshal Tito’s regime broke with Moscow.
