CUP TOURNAMENT AT HAWARDEN
The following were the results of a tournament for the Rutherford and Westenra Cups, held by the Hawarden Golf Club: Westenra'Cup (best 36 holes, gross): M. Childs (Cheviot), 78, 80—158; J. Rule (Glenmark), 77, 84—161. Rutherford Cup (best 36 holes, net. players with handicaps under 16): G. Evans (Hawarden), 71. 76—147; M. Childs (Cheviot). 74, 76—150. A medal round played in the morning was won by A. Rutherford (Hawarden), with a net score of 71. The afternoon medal round was won by R. Barrat (Kaikoura), with a net score of 73. The following were the results of the junior competitions for players on handicaps between 17 and 24: Gross aggregate, R. Macfarlane (Kalkoura), 1; S, Duncan (Hawarden) 2. Net aggregate, J. Bainbridge (Hawarden), 1. Medal Rounds.—Morning: S. Duncan (Hawarden). Afternoon: R. Macfarlane (Kaikoura). The'teams’ match was won by the Hawarden B team (A. Rutherford, S. Wood, S. Duncan, and J. Milne).
CHRISTCHURCH LADIES* CLUB A flag match played yesterday at Shirley resulted in the silver division in a win for Mrs J. Rennie, who took the flag to the edge of the eighteenth green. In the bronze division the winner was Mrs K. Cochran, who took the flag to the nineteenth green. Miss W. Morgan and Mrs J. Davis also took the flag to the nineteenth fairway, and all three players reduced their handicaps. KAIAPOI LADIES’ CLUB The following were the best score* in a Stableford bogey played on Tuesday:— Miss L. Harden, 30 points; Mrs C. Alexander, 30; Miss S. Blackwell, 27; Mrs L. Hopkins, 25; Mrs R. Fahey, 24.
